The Exhibition Perception of Body, by Ana Costa consists of a series of abstract paintings that form her MA Thesis.

The works concern a study of the subject of the Being (Human or Animal), and its insides – a visceral world. The exploration of the Being’s insides has the goal of deepening the consciousness of the individual (living being).

Phenomenologically, Merleau Ponty’s notion of “proper body” (le corps propre), and the idea that the artist/philosopher tries to pursue the exploration of the individual to achieve a living animated body is crucial to the artwork. In addition, concepts such as awareness and consciousness are fundamental, processes of discovery and response to the world; determined by the nature of sensory, motor capacities.

This exhibition in Galleria Nunes is Ana's first solo exhibition.
