Outi Kotala & Marja Tikka - Chaos
04.11. - 22.11.2009
Outi Kotala: Auringonkukka
When neither time nor space were defined, eternity was silence and darkness. It was like a deep dream, darkness. Darkness wasn't static but rhythmical movement with both gently waving motion, silent twinkle and wild dance of energies. In this change the idea became self-aware. It tried different shapes, aiming for perfection and functionalism, aiming towards shape from which to be born of. Idea aimed to be born as material, as being.
Chaos is, according to myths of Kalevala and according to ancient Greek the limitless state, initial substance, existing before the act of creation. Chaos can be seen to include in itself the principle of material as a possibility. It isn't the modern havoc, where items and issues bounce reclessly, bumping into each others. Its existance is spiritual, not material
Our exhibition was born out of questions. Where has everything begun, is everything as it seems or is there more? In Chaos exhibition we approach the subject by depicting the existance and formation of different energies and substances. The thought behind the works of art is borderline between chaos and organized world, awakening of consciousness, mythical moment of the birth of the world.
