Jaakko Heikkinen is a pictorial artist, born in 1969, Suomussalmi, Finland. He lives and works in Liminka.
Jaakko Heikkinen paints and studies life around where he lives in. People are the usual theme. "People in daily life as they are" interests him. You can find all the different tones and shadows of the values; there is already plenty to study there. Nature and abstract ideas are always good subjects for him as well.
During the last years Jaakko Heikkinen's working methods have been emphasized in aquarelles in combination with other techniques, like e.g. dry pastels and acrylic and oil colors. His three dimensional expression has emphasized mainly in ceramics and wood.
Jaakko Heikkinen has participated in several group and single exhibitions. He has also been honored by some exhibitions in museums in Finland.
"In my works I ponder on today's questions like e.g. unemployment and dropouts. Everyone cannot succeed or have strength, unemployment is increasing. Anxiety and despair is visible e.g. in people living in the periferia. EU, capitalism! Many seek for safety in alcohol and medication. Where is that infamous spirit of the Winter War? Paintings have been made mainly in aquarelles and pastels. Ideas have come from authentic situations."
