Kirsti Hyytiäinen

Meet the artist in Galleria Nunes, Sat 13.3. and Sat 20.3. starting at 12h.Welcome and hear from Kirsti Hyytiäinen more about the photographs and poems written in Finnish that compose the exhibition.

com.Positions exhibition by Kirsti "KooHoo" Hyytiäinen has colors filling black and white, and black and white draining out the colors. Abstract is asking, tangible is inquiring and both of them answer – in their own challenging way.

Hyytiäinen is a self-learned photographer and uses photo editing tools only to the minimum. Pictures are usually organic, playing with lights, shadows and varying camera settings. Hyytiäinen films mainly black and white portraits, abstract macro photos, city scenery and tiny details of life. Hyytiäinen is captivated especially by backlight and silhouette photography and moods and messages transfered by human faces.

Hyytiäinen is also interested modern poetry and in the exhibition held in Galleria Nunes her black and white photos and texts are combined in still moments and stories of fear, disappointment, sadness and hope. In the other part colors are reclaiming the walls, calling into their happy, abstract play.

Photos taken for the com.Positions exhibition have been taken in France and Finland during Summer and Fall 2009 and Winter 2010.

Hyytiäinen is a Master of Science in Philosophy and she works as a translator. She loves especially photography, music and arts in general. In addition to photography Hyytiäinen paints and does collages with recycled paper techniques.

During 2009 Hyytiäinen had two exhibitions in South of France, in Cannes and Mandelieu-la-Napoule and in January 2010 pictorial pairs were talking strongly in exhibition "Geometry of Solitude" in Kolo gallery, Helsinki, Finland.
